When was WFFC founded?
WFFC was officially incorporated in Canada in July of 2003.  It became recognized as a Canadian charity in 2005 (Charitable Registration #88279 7400 RR0001).

Alex, a deep believer in the right of children to have a voice in the decisions that affect them, is the founder of WFFC.

What is WFFC?
WFFC is dedicated to providing children with the essential building blocks of life, thereby empowering them to recreate their world.  WFFC is a non-governmental, international children’s organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors.

Please read our Vision Statement, Mission Statement, and Guiding Principles.

What is WFFC’s history?
Please visit our history timeline.

Where are you based and where do you work?
WFFC’s Head Office, as well as its Board of Directors is located in Toronto, Canada.  WFFC also has official student clubs on a number of university campuses across Canada.

WFFC is also officially registered in Bulgaria (Eastern Europe).

WFFC works primarily in developing countries in Eastern Europe, Latin America, South-East Asia, and Africa.

Who sits on your Board of Directors?
WFFC is fortunate to have a strong and dedicated Board of Directors as well as access to knowledgeable Board advisors.  The Board of Directors is comprised of individuals that come from a variety of professional backgrounds and experiences such as government, law, accounting, international development, fundraising, social work, medicine, human resources, marketing, engineering, and others.  The Board is diverse, bringing a mix of members of different ages, ethnicity, and religions.

Are you a religious organization?
No.  WFFC is a non-sectarian organization.

How do I get involved or volunteer?
If you are interested in helping out you can donate, volunteer, open a WFFC club/chapter, or partner with us.

What makes your organization different from others?
WFFC has a unique philosophy where we deeply believe in listening to children.  As a result, all of our international projects are designed with the direct involvement of the children who will be affected to take into account their views, ideas, opinions, concerns, and wishes.

How do I donate?
Please visit our donation page.

What does WFFC do and how?
We have three main areas of focus.  (1) International development where we work to provide education, health, clean water and sanitation, as well as support to orphans.  (2) International relief and aid where we help children and their families in situations of crisis.  (3) Advocacy where we advocate for children’s rights in a variety of areas such as child poverty, child labour, child exploitation, and child empowerment.

How do you get funded?
WFFC receives its funding from a wide variety of sources such as governments, foundations, corporations, and individuals.  Our member base is a key component for sustaining WFFC through annual membership fees.  Our university clubs and offices in developed countries also work to fundraise for our projects.

Help by becoming a WFFC volunteer or making a donation.

Do you give grants to other NGOs?
We only consider project proposals from NGOs based in developing countries.  Please click here to read more about partnering with WFFC and to view the funding guidelines.

Do you offer paid career opportunities?
No.  At this time, WFFC is an entirely volunteer-run organization.

Do you offer international volunteer opportunities and internships?
From time to time we may offer overseas placement for volunteers.  However all volunteers are required to pay for their own travel and living expenses.  Please visit our volunteer page for more information.

How many paid employees and volunteers does WFFC currently have?
WFFC is an entirely volunteer-run organization with no paid employees.  As we are still a relatively small organization, every dollar is precious to us, and we work hard to ensure that the funds we receive from donors like you are put to good use.
